Investigation into Madu’s call to police over traffic ticket launches
EDMONTON, AB – The province has announced details of an investigation into a phone call Justice Minister Kaycee Madu made to the Edmonton Police Service last year.
Retired Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta Justice Adèle Kent’s will be investigating the call.
Last March, Madu called the Edmonton Police Service’s chief after receiving a ticket for distracted driving. The police service noted that Madu had concerns about the traffic stop but did not ask the chief to waive the ticket.
Kent’s investigation will determine whether Madu’s call to Chief Dale McFee on March 10, 2021 constituted interference or an attempt to interfere with the administration of justice.
