Grande Prairie RCMP investigating shooting

Feb 14, 2022 | 9:19 PM

Grande Prairie RCMP say a 44-year-old man suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries after being shot in the back.

Mounties say they got a call just after 12:30 p.m. Monday about a man being treated for a gunshot wound at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

Police say the shooting happened in the County of Grande Prairie near Range Road 72 and Township Road 714. The suspect fled the area before police got there.

RCMP had issued a statement earlier saying there was a heavy police presence near that location and asked people to avoid the area. Mounties are still on scene.

Police add the victim and suspect knew each other and do not believe this was a random act.

Anyone who has information on this that can help in the investigation is asked to contact the Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-830-5700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Information can also be sent in at www.P3Tips.com or by using the P3 Tips app.
