The Downtown Rehabilitation and Streetscapes Project along 100 Avenue between 98 Street and 100 Street will be completed this summer.

Crews are going to complete street-level infrastructure including the installation of paving stones, concrete sidewalk base, street furniture, shrubs, trees, and other landscaping as a part of Phase 4 of the project.

Matt Hinton, the Capital Planning and Construction Manager for the city says Phase 4 is finishing sidewalks and beautification.

“The contractor is going to be ripping out the asphalt they laid down last year and replacing the sidewalks with new concrete and paving stones.”

Minor traffic delays may occur due on 100 Avenue between 98 Street and 99 Street going down to one lane flow to allow space for crews to safely maneuver equipment and access materials.

The deep underground work, installation of sanitary, water, and storm lines and associated tie-ins to businesses, as well as paving stone installation on 100 Avenue between 99 Street and 100 Street was completed in 2021.

Construction is anticipated to be completed by early August 2022 if there are no delays in work.

The city is holding a community information session on Tuesday, April 26 at Fourteen14 Food Company located at 10120 100 Avenue from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the public to come and ask questions regarding the project, traffic plans, construction sequencing, timelines and more with the project team.

“People can come in and ask questions of the contractor, consultant and city staff to find out what’s going on for the next couple months in the downtown area,” Hinton said about the information session.
