Community Clean-up

City Scrub underway in Grande Prairie

May 1, 2022 | 10:00 AM

Residents of Grande Prairie are being asked to participate in the City’s annual, week-long City Scrub from now until May 7.

The community clean-up encourages the people of Grande Prairie to pick up and properly dispose of trash that has accumulated over the winter.

Jessica Foley with the City of Grande Prairie says the event has been held for over 20 years.

“We encourage residents to get outside for as little as 20 minutes and grab a garbage bag, take some disposable gloves and get out there to help everyone clean up the winter garbage that accumulates.”

The City is supplying free garbage bags and gloves to those participating in the clean-up that can be picked up at:

  • City Hall
  • Muskoseepi Park
  • Eastlink Centre
  • Grande Prairie Museum
  • City Service Centre

If participants’ garbage collection bags do not fit into their curbside bin, a bag tag at the listed facilities can be picked up at no charge.

“One of the great benefits of doing this is that you can get together with your neighbours or your family and it’s a great thing you can be doing to prep your backyard for spring, your front yard, and even the parks around your neighbourhood getting them looking as good as they can and giving them the best start to the spring,” Foley noted.
