Extensive damages to Chateh RCMP detachment following dangerous quad incident

Sep 23, 2022 | 6:05 AM

On September 16, 2022, shortly after 1 p.m., the Chateh RCMP were notified by an employee within their detachment that a person was outside of their building doing burnouts on a quad.

Before police arrived on site, the quad that was equipped with a snowblade on the front drove into the detachment employee entrance and main public entrance doors repeatedly, as well as a vehicle and surrounding landscape.

When officers arrived on scene, the person on the quad tried to flee, but officers were able to contain the accused on a fenced property and arrest them.

Significant damages to the structure of the building occurred in the incident, as well as to the Chateh Victim Services vehicle and landscaping around the detachment building.

No employees were physically injured as a result of the incident.

Twenty-five-year-old Lenny Grant Tecomba of Chateh has been charged with:

  • Mischief over $5,000 (X 3)
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Breaking and entering with intent to a business
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol
  • Failure or refusal to comply with a demand (alcohol)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

Following a judicial hearing, Tecomba was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in High Level Provincial Court on September 26, 2022.

No further information can be provided, as the matter is now before the courts.
