The City of Grande Prairie and Grande Prairie Regional Association of Volunteer Organization has extended the deadline to submit nominations for the Local Volunteer Awards to October 22.

The City has partnered with the Association of Volunteer Organizations to recognize people that make our community a better place to live.

There are four awards open for nominations. They are:

The George Repka Outstanding Achievement Award, recognizes someone who made a major contribution to recreation, culture, or social services.

The Bill Bowes Volunteer Organization Award recognizes volunteer organizations or foundations in Grande Prairie.

The Grande Prairie Regional Association Organizations 2022 Volunteer of the Year Awards, recognizes one individual and one company for their contribution to the community.

The 2022 Leaders of Tomorrow Awards presented by ATCO, goes to youth in the community who have made contributions through volunteering.

The City says in a news release that the perfect candidate is dedicated to helping the community, has a fearless approach, strives for inclusion, continuously volunteers, has endless patience, thinks creatively, is eager to take the initiative, is driven by passion, works well with others, and inspires and encourages volunteerism.
