Beaverlodge Hospital E-D set to close For most of Saturday

The Emergency Department at th Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital is slated to be closed from 7 am to 11 pm on Saturday, December 31st.

An unexpected nursing shortage is the reason for the closure, although Alberta Health Services says in a release that the Emergency Department may re-open sooner if coverage is secured.

Patients with medical emergencies are still urged to call 9-1-1, with those calls being re-routed to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

Depending on their needs, patients seeking care may also be made aware of services available through their local pharmacy.

Residents are also reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions.

AHS says this is a temporary measure, adding that it is working hard to ensure residents continue to have access to the care they need during this time.
