GPPL non-profit society looking for members

Jan 20, 2023 | 4:19 PM

A non-profit society created to support and promote the Grande Prairie Public Library is hosting its annual membership drive Saturday at the library.

From noon to 4 p.m., members of the Champions of the Grande Prairie Public Library Society will be recruiting new members who are interested in supporting and promoting the library.

Mark Evans, President of the Champions of the GPPL said in a release, “Grande Prairie Public Library is the one place in the community that is open to everyone to find lifelong learning opportunities, grow the economy and find recreation,”

Residents who do sign up are expected to help the library with fundraising and advocacy efforts.

In the past year, Champions held three successful fundraisers, accumulating more than $7,500.

This event will also double for the launch of their first fundraiser of 2023, which is a silent auction and wine survivor draw.

Starting Saturday, people will be able to bid on 16 different silent auction items and purchase tickets for a draw of 25 bottles of wine.

The silent auction will close on February 11 and then a draw for the wine survivor will be done at the library.
