Boundary changes made for Grade 9 Catholic students in Sexsmith
Beginning this fall, Grade 9 students that would have been attending St Mary’s school in Sexsmith will have a different school to call home.
Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools trustees have approved boundary changes that will now allow those students to enter St John Paul II Catholic High School at the Grade 9 level, instead of the current arrangement of them moving to the Grande Prairie school at Grade 10.
Besides bringing the high school entry point in line with other students in the district, the move allows the students earlier access to numerous options classes.
Those choices include Fine Arts, Construction, Fabrication and other Apprenticeship and Trades programs, Fashion, Cosmetology, Open Technology Studies, Access to a Commercial Cooking Lab, and athletic development through the Celtic Sports Academy.
