NWP celebrating its first birthday

Thursday marks the one-year anniversary of Northwestern Polytechnic.

It was one year ago that it became Northwestern Polytechnic after being Grande Prairie Regional College for many years.

NWP says to celebrate its success, birthday events will be held at both the Grande Prairie and Fairview campuses.

Celebrations start with a breakfast at 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the Fairview campus atrium, followed by a birthday mixer at the Grande Prairie Campus running from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.

Since transitioning from a regional college to a polytechnic, NWP has gone through numerous changes to reflect the needs of the community.

In their first year, NWP has opened its own wing at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital to train medical students, added more spots in apprenticeship and trades programs, and tried to reflect the needs of the area more, as they look to add a Centre for Entrepreneurial Excellence.

No RSVP’s are required for these celebrations. NWP says it looks forward to sharing its success with the community.
