Community Foundation re-brands as Northwestern Alberta Foundation

The Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta held its annual general meeting back on May 11, with one of the major highlights being the announcement of a re-brand for the organization.

It will now be known as the Northwestern Alberta Foundation.

CEO Laura LaValley says it is an opportunity for their organization to re-position themselves, and re-focus their efforts on serving all areas of Northwestern Alberta.

“We have always been in service to the entire region, but this name change is to help us combat some confusion, to help ensure that everyone knows that we are the charity for charities, looking to support all different causes throughout our entire region.”

LaValley adds they hope the name change will help people better recognize them and set them apart from other charities in the region.

“There definitely was some confusion in the past, and we are looking to make sure that people understand who we are and what we are and that we are here to serve the entire Northwestern Alberta region.”

The board of directors with the foundation began discussing the idea of a re-branding back in January of this year.

LaValley says the exercise comes with a new logo and tagline as well.

“We are hoping that the leaf signifies youthfulness and that it is a connection to some of the major industries that we have in Northwestern Alberta, specifically forestry, agriculture, and energy. The colour scheme is to connect us to our land, so indigenous communities as well as our pioneer families.”

LaValley adds their new tagline “Rooted in Community” which signifies the intent of the foundation, which is to be present in all aspects of the community, along with being able to support wherever needed.

She adds they are in the midst of changing over their social media handles to the new name, as well as developing a new website and new email addresses.
