24th World Petroleum Congress underway in Calgary
Hundreds of executives and government officials from oil-producing nations around the world are gathered in Calgary this week for the 24th World Petroleum Congress.
The event, which occurs every three years and has not been held in Canada since 2000, runs amid the backdrop of growing global pressure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Oil prices, meanwhile, topped US$90 a barrel last week for the first time since November last year.
The Congress is led by W-P-C Energy, which is an organization of nearly 65 member countries from around the world.
