Marten Lake man arrested and charged for uttering threats

Peace Regional RCMP has taken a Marten Lake man into custody after receiving reports of an unwanted person in a home on Sunday.

On September 17, Mounties received reports of an unwanted man in Marten Lake and people barricading themselves inside their home for safety.

RCMP then located and arrested the lone suspect.

25-year-old Ray Travis Sawan, was taken into custody and received 12 charges:

  • Four counts of uttering threats
  • Taking a motor vehicle without consent
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Assault
  • Three counts of failure to comply with a Release Order (curfew, possession of a weapon, and being in a vehicle without the registered owner present)
  • Stunting
  • Operation of a motor vehicle without a license

Sawan was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody with a court date set for Monday, September 18.

RCMP is also asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect vehicle and any other suspects that may have been involved in the incident.
