Hockey, football and soccer on the local sports schedule this weekend

There are three games in the Northwest Junior Hockey League Friday, September, 29. That includes Fort St. John in Beaverlodge, Fairview at the Wheat Kings, and Peace River in Dawson Creek.

Saturday, September 30, Sexsmith in Peace River, La Crete in Fairview, and Dawson Creek in Beaverlodge.

All those games start at 8 p.m.

Sunday, October 1, La Crete at the Wheat Kings at 2 p.m.

Football

In the Mighty Peace Football League Friday, Valleyview is in Whitecourt. Kick-off is at 4 p.m.

The Grande Prairie Phoenix at the St. Joe’s Celtics starts at 5:30. Fort McMurray at Sexsmith starts at 8 p.m. Both will be played at CKC Field.

The Sabres are still second in the Football Alberta rankings among Tier 4 schools. High Prairie is ranked eighth, Valleyview ninth

The Celtics are second in Tier 2.

Whitecourt is ranked fourth in Tier 3.

Soccer

Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves men’s soccer is playing a road game against The King’s University in Edmonton on Friday.

That game will start at 5 p.m.

A previously scheduled game between the two had to be postponed because of poor air quality.

Both Wolves teams have games against Lakeland College in Vermilion Saturday and Sunday.

Game times will be noon and 2 p.m. on both days, starting with the women’s game.
