Grande Prairie marks Waste Reduction Week with Community Drop & Swap
Aquatera Utilities and the City of Grande Prairie have partnered to host a free Community Clothing Drop & Swap this weekend.
From Wednesday, October 18 until Friday, October 20 residents are encouraged to visit the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion and drop off new or gently used clothing.
On Saturday, October 21, the swap begins, with residents being invited back to the pavilion from noon until 4 p.m. to browse and take home any donated clothes.
As this event is part of Waste Reduction Week, the City does ask residents to bring a reusable bag, with Mayor Jackie Clayton discussing the environmental impact this event has had in the past. Saying in a release, “Last year, we diverted a remarkable 3,000 pounds of clothing from the landfill, and this year, we aim to do even better.”
