Telephone town hall hears growing calls for hard numbers before taking Alberta pension plan idea to referendum

EDMONTON – The panel gathering feedback on whether Alberta should quit the Canada Pension Plan is hearing renewed calls to get some hard numbers before the issue goes to a referendum.

Jim Dinning’s panel took calls from residents in southern Alberta in the second of five telephone town halls.

A number of callers say the government needs to negotiate and nail down with the feds exactly how much Alberta will get from the C-P-P before it has a vote on whether or not to go it alone.

Right now, the government is relying on a third-party report that says Alberta is entitled to leave the C-P-P with 334-billion-dollars.
