Rentco celebrates 60th anniversary by donating $60k to local charities

Nov 28, 2023 | 11:07 AM

Six local charities will be benefitting from the celebration of Rentco Equipment Ltd.’s 60th anniversary.

The family-owned business will be giving $60,000 out, with each Peace region charity receiving $10,000.

Each charity was selected by Rentco to be evenly distributed to the communities they serve:

  • Grief Support – Camp Heal-A-Heart (Grande Prairie),
  • Technical Search & Rescue in Grande Prairie ,
  • Grande Prairie Men’s Shed,
  • Ground Level Youth Centre in Peace River,
  • Bulterys House in Dawson Creek,
  • Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society.

Drew Shields, President of Rentco Equipment Ltd. said in a statement, “With it being Rentco’s 60th year, we wanted to do something to support the community that has supported us”

“We also wanted to recognize those organizations in our community that share our company’s values. We were specific on who we wanted to support such as the Men’s Shed, causes like suicide prevention, as well as children and youth support resources like Camp Heal-A-Heart. A lot of our employees and customers are outdoorsmen so Technical Search & Rescue was another charity that stood out for us. All these organizations are valuable to the City of Grande Prairie, yet don’t get as much recognition as they should. We hope that this donation not only gives back to the community but also helps bring much-needed focus and attention to these great causes.”

Donations from the Grande Prairie locations were presented to representatives of three local charities on Monday, November 27.

The locations operating elsewhere in the region will officially present their donations throughout the remainder of the week.

Rentco said in a released statement the donations are just one part of their commitment to the region and charitable efforts year-round. The business donates equipment to community events and organizations and encourages its employees to regularly volunteer.
