Oliver’s holding annual retired flag ceremony February 15
Oliver’s Funeral Home is hosting its annual ceremony for retired flags on February 15.
People bring in old flags and the local funeral home holds a ceremony to bury them at the cemetery.
Anyone who wants to join can meet at Oliver’s at 10:30 a.m. on the 15th or meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. The ceremony starts at 11 a.m.
“Oliver’s believes in the importance of the Canadian flag as a symbol representing the free democratic nation in which we live. If the flag hanging outside a home business organization or school must be replaced, we feel that the old flag deserves to be treated respectfully,” says the funeral home in a release, adding that people bring in old flags all year.
