Registration for Grande Prairie’s inclusive and barrier-free camp opens Tuesday, February 13.

Residents can sign their children up for Camp Tamarack and participate in the many outdoor activities planned for the summer months.

Board member Ken Belke says it’s an exciting time for the camp organizers right now.

“Coming out of winter and we have so much to get accomplished,” Belke says. “We’re busy interviewing and hiring people and planning programs. And now registration is kicking off. It’s all good stuff, but it’s very, very exciting.”

Belke says there are plenty of activities and programs to sign up with, including an updated program for teenagers.

“There’s kayaking or there’s a program on photography or mountain biking,” he says. “Between the new programming for the teens and some alternate adventures for the six to ten-year-olds, there’s a lot of neat stuff there.”

Camp Tamarack is wheelchair accessible and aims to provide an inclusive outdoor camping experience.

Belke says the maximum number of spaces available differs between programs and anyone interested should register soon, while they last.

“The big thing is we want to make sure that people are getting that opportunity to connect with nature, have fun, and enjoy our innovator programs,” he says. “we’ve got a giant swing, low ropes elements, team building elements, all kinds of activities.”

You can check out all the available programs and register at Camp Tamarack’s website.
