Town of Grimshaw council redirects Pond Hockey donation to Gala event

Town of Grimshaw Council is reacting to the cancellation of the 2024 Alberta Pond Hockey Championships.
At their Wednesday, February 19, meeting, Council voted that the $5,000 donation made to the event will stand, with it now being specifically directed toward the Gala and Silent Auction Event taking place on March 9.
The hockey championships were cancelled due to warmer temperatures thinning the ice and making it unable to support the weight of the equipment used to prepare the rinks.
Proceeds from the gala will support the Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention North Peace Branch.
