Besides food security and emergency funding for the CAIRN Housing Society, council discussed some other things at Monday’s meeting:
- Council upped the limit businesses can receive under its Barrier Free Grant Program. The amount has been doubled from $10,000 to $20,000. There is a total of $80,000 for business that need help making their operations more accessible to people with disabilities. Council also approved setting an expiry date for the program of March 31, 2025.
- Council was told the tax sale that was planned for earlier this month was cancelled after the various property owners paid their tax bills.
- Council approved Mediation Protocols with the County of Grande Prairie. These are meant to govern discussions around cost sharing for recreation and culture. The city and county have each named five people to sit on a negotiating committee. July 1 has been set as a deadline to schedule an initial meeting. Council was told that county council had also approved these protocols.
