Canada Day celebrations in Grande Prairie

The 157th anniversary of Canadian Confederation is on Monday, July 1, 2024.

The City of Grande Prairie has a long list of events and activities for all to celebrate all day.

A parade will start at 2 p.m. at Hillside School, and take 96 Street and head down 100 Avenue to Northwestern Polytechnic’s Parking Lot A.

Muskoseepi Park will also host a plethora of free activities starting at 3:30 p.m. they are listed below:

  • Free swimming at the Aquatera Outdoor Pool
    • Drop-in slots are noon – 2 p.m., to 4 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Free cake, sponsored by New Horizon Co-op
  • Live entertainment at the Amphitheatre and beer gardens
  • Fire dancers from 11 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
  • Carnival rides and games, sponsored by Paramount Resources Ltd.
  • Kids zone with bouncy castles, face painting (ends at 7 p.m.) and roaming entertainment, sponsored by Cenovus Energy
  • Food trucks (2 p.m. to midnight)
  • Fireworks, sponsored by Pomeroy Lodging, starting at 11:30 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided by Derina Harvey Band, The Northbloods, Mandee Ray, and TJ Ruckus Band at the Amphitheatre.

City transit will also accommodate those wanting a stress-free day without the hassles of parking or finding a ride home, click here to find out more.
