Fundraiser for Jasper

Alberta Day of Caring estimated to have raised over $1.5 million

Jul 31, 2024 | 6:10 PM

Alberta Day of Caring wrapped up earlier today. (Wednesday, July 31)

So far, Alberta bottle depots collected $518,482 worth of donations, which is estimated to be around $1.5 million with the provincial and federal governments matching donations.

Locally, the Grande Prairie Recycle Plus I depot collected $4,242.70 while Plus II collected $3,345.50, for a grand total of $7,588.20.

However, multiple Alberta bottle depots saw a high volume of donations and are closing soon or have already closed; so crews have yet to sort through all the donations and come up with a final total.

Bottle depots expect to be sorting donations through this week and into the weekend.

That does mean bottle donations will still be accepted for Jasper throughout the week at any Alberta depots, for anyone who missed their opportunity today.

An exact total of the money raised from Alberta Day of Caring for Jasper is anticipated to be released next week.

Albertans can also donate through the Alberta Day of Caring website, or texting the word ‘RADIO‘ to 20222 to donate $10 to the Alberta Fires Appeal.
