Pedestrian hit and run in Whitecourt being investigated

Mounties in Whitecourt are on the lookout for a suspect vehicle that was involved in a pedestrian hit-and-run last week in that community.

It happened on October 24, at 3:30 p.m., police were notified of a 19-year-old woman who was hit in an intersection (52 Avenue and 47 Street) and the vehicle that hit her failed to stop.

She was taken to the hospital by a co-worker and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and was later released.

The suspect vehicle is described as:

  • Gold in colour
  • Newer model Ford Escape
  • Young male driver, looks to be between 16-18 years old
  • Light skin, brown hair, grey shirt, and wearing a hat

Whitecourt RCMP are asking the public if they have any information regarding this collision or have dash cam footage captured on October 24, 2024, between 2:45 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the area of the collision in the Town of Whitecourt, to please contact the detachment at 780-778-5454.
