Dec 3, 2024 | 5:00 PM

Alberta Grains has named its new board of directors.

Greg Sears of Sexsmith and Tasha Alexander of Brownvale will represent Region 6, which takes in the Peace Country. Both were on the first-ever board for Alberta Grains which was named in February.

Austin Vavrek of Sexsmith and Jesse Meyer of Rycroft will serve as delegates for this area.

Acme producer Tara Sawyer will continue as board chair.

“I’m incredibly grateful to continue to serve as the chair for Alberta Grains. We have an incredibly passionate group on our board who bring an extensive range of diverse skills and backgrounds, all with the same goal of advancing grain production and awareness in Alberta and across Canada,” says Sawyer in a release from Alberta Grains.

Spruce Grove farmer Scott Jespersen will serve as first vice-chair, while Carstairs producer Devin Hartzler will be the second vice-chair.

Elections were held during regional meetings held around Alberta in October and November.

The new board was announced after the Alberta Grains annual general meeting held during the last week of November in Banff.
