Wolves Women’s Volleyball team set for Provincials

Feb 21, 2019 | 10:17 AM

The GPRC Women’s Volleyball team will play their first game of Provincials this evening down in Calgary against Briercrest.

The Wolves finished 4th in the North division, and squeaked into the playoffs on the final day of the regular season.

Head Coach Chantelle Lamonte revealed that it was a battle all year in a highly contested North division.

“The North is known to be a strong conference. Teams are always really competitive as you can see by the results in the standings. With the turnover with programs over the last few years we have seen some programs near the top of the division which we haven’t seen before.”

Due to their 4th place finish in the North, the Wolves will face the 1st place team in the South Briercrest.

Lamonte explains what makes Briercrest such a dangerous club.

“They are a tough team to play against. We just went over it in video. They serve very tough. They have excellent ball control which seems to be a trademark of Briercrest teams.”

The Wolves battle Briercrest Thursday night at 8:00 p.m.
