Service disruption at Grimshaw/Berwyn and District Community Health Centre ED

Due to a clinical personnel shortage, there could be no on-site physician at the Grimshaw/Berwyn and District Community Health Centre Emergency Department during daytime hours the rest of this week.

Health officials say there is no on-site physician expected during the following dates and times:

9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday, July 30

9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Friday, July 31

9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1

9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2

Officials say nursing staff will remain on-site to provide urgent triage and assessment and referrals for patients to alternate emergency departments, and 911 callers with medical emergency situations will be re-routed to neighboring facilities.

Virtual emergency physician coverage may be available, where experienced ED physicians can be reached remotely to support the ED temporarily during this service advisory.

Meanwhile, a disruption planned for the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital ED July 30, has been canceled , while the disruptions planned for between Friday and Monday are still anticipated.
