Highway 2 open following fatal collision

Spirit River RCMP have confirmed Highway 2 has reopened following a fatal collision Tuesday (Sept. 1) afternoon in the Saddle Hills area.

Around 3:10 p.m. that day, Mounties responded to reports of a collision between a semi-truck and a pickup, resulting in the temporary closure of the highway between Township Roads 763 and 760.

The driver of the pickup, a 41-year-old male Grande Prairie resident, was declared deceased at the scene while a passenger was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the semi did not report any injuries at this time.
