Favourable weather helps farmers with harvest
Wind and sunshine have helped producers across the province get in the fields to continue with a harvest season that is later than usual.
According to the latest Alberta Crop Report by AFSC, there was a 21 per cent increase provincewide in harvest completion for major crops to 60 per cent.
When compared to the report before, harvest completion ramped up 22 per cent to 45 per cent completed in the Peace Region. The breakdown by major crops is as follows:
- Spring Wheat – 63 per cent
- Barley – 62 per cent
- Oats – 45.4 per cent
- Canola – 22.5 per cent
- Dry Peas – 86.4 per cent
