Significant snowfall event to bring up to 25cm in high terrains

A snowfall warning has been issued by Environment Canada to replace the special weather statement in the Peace Region.

The national weather office says significant snowfall is expected over West-Central Alberta today (Friday, Oct. 9) varying anywhere from 7 to 25 cm, with Grande Prairie expected to receive the lower end of the range.

Higher terrains are expected to get the higher accumulations, like Highway 40 from Grande Prairie to Hinton.

Travel will likely be difficult and challenging during the first blast of snow this season and local utility outages may occur.
