Strong third period lifts Kings to victory

The County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings played their final game of 2017 Wednesday night in Sexsmith and despite the slow start, walked away with a 5-1 victory.

Sexsmith would take the early advantage five minutes into the first period thanks to Joel Demarcke and his 7th goal of the season.

The Kings would put on the pressure to even up the game, but they wouldn’t break through until the third period.

Five unanswered goals in the final stanza would vault the Kings to their 15th win of the season.

The massive outbreak in the third period was highlighted by a pair of goals from Zach Bennett.

With the win, the Kings improve to 15-9-0-2 on the year.

They will be back on the ice on January 5th when they travel to Fort St.John to battle the Huskies.
