Local kids give Valentine’s Day advice

Feb 14, 2018 | 3:15 AM

Today is Valentine’s Day and when it comes to advice on the day, we asked the experts, who just so happen to range in age from five to 11.

What would be a great Valentine’s Day present?

“Flowers or chocolates…Timbits…My mom loves turtles and she loves toffees,” a few of our experts said.

Other ideas were a beautiful red dress, a new car, an engagement ring, some new underwear or a cat.

One expert thought a simple card or poem would do the trick.

If you’re wondering what to do with your date on Valentine’s Day, we asked the experts about that too.

Eating food or going out for dinner was the general consensus, but two experts thought going to Mexico would be a perfect Valentine’s Day date.

“Definitely do not kiss the boy,” said one expert (age 8).

“What happens on a date? You eat food usually.  You could go to a movie too or Tim Hortons!”

And when it comes to love advice maybe we should just take it from the kids too.

All our experts agreed they would like a spouse who is nice and smart.

“A wife that is nice, like not rude, and gentle,” said the 11-year-old.

Our 5-year-old expert thought her husband should be nice and sweet and like to watch hockey on T.V.

Thank you to our experts:

Ayrabella (age 8)

Jace (age 11)

Jersie (age 5)

Junah (age 6)

Mariah (age 8)
