2018 Alberta Winter Games begin tonight

While residents all across the region are fixated on the 2018 Pyeongchang winter games, the 2018 Alberta winter games is about to begin in the Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

More than 2,500 participants, their families, and spectators will attend the games which begin tonight and end on the February 19th.

The winter games include a wide variety of sports which include skiing, hockey, biathlon, curling, speedskating, and much more.

There are 87 athletes from Grande Prairie taking part in the games representing Zone 8, and 32 from the surrounding area.

The Alberta Games also generates about $3 million in economic impact for host communities
