Business community to learn about opiates

The business community will be hearing from the ACT Medical Clinic and the HIV North Society Wednesday regarding opiate use.

The clinic’s Bonnie Braun says at the Grande Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce event they will be highlighting the drug’s impact.

“And how we are planning on helping, and by helping I mean I am the treatment side of things and HIV North is more the harm reduction side of things, and how this impacts the business community.”

Braun adds “we know that there is a lot of time loss for opiate-related missed days at work or even just substance misuse in general and so even if they don’t want to say it affects their business, it does:”

She says they will also be discussing prescription use and misuse, treatment options and what a supervised consumption site is and what it would look like in Grande Prairie.
