May 15, 2018 | 5:57 AM

The City of Grande Prairie will be represented at the Special Olympics National Summer Games in Prince Edward Island.

Special Olympics Grande Prairie attended Provincials last year in Medicine Hat where one of their five-pin bowling teams, made up of five players, one ten pin bowlers, and one swimmer were named to Team Alberta to compete at Nationals.

The five-pin bowlers include Nicole Wasylchew, Cole Jarvie, Matthew Barker-Withers, Paul Stranaghan, and Kaylee Cramer.

Also, Head Coach Cathy Withers was selected to travel with the five-pin team as a National Coach.

The ten-pin bowler is Zac Frost, and the swimming athlete is Sarah Shinn.

The bowling competition begins on Tuesday in Prince Edward Island and will run until Saturday.

For the five-pin athletes, this competition is the highest level which they can compete at.

However, for both the ten-pin and swimming athlete they have the potential to be named to Team Canada to compete and travel to the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi, March 14th-21st, 2019.
