New Coaches announced for GPAC

May 16, 2018 | 10:21 AM

It’s been a busy off-season for the Grande Peace Athletic club as they have been busy hiring new coaches for some of their clubs.

However, GPAC President Tyler Stojan explained they still have a couple of key coaches who will be returning for next year.

” We’ve been able to retain some of our coaches. Chris Schmidt at the Midget AAA level. We have also retained Kyle Weegar at the Midget Bantam AAA level, and we have retained Fraser Berg at the AA level. “

Travis Wallan is one of the new hires for the 2018-2019 season for GPAC as he will be the main bench boss for the Boston Pizza Minor Midget AAA Storm, and Jace Weegar will be the Head Coach of the Hitch’em Oilfield Hauling Bantam AA team.

The Athletic Club continues to develop young hockey players and send them to the next level, but as Stojan added they also want to be able to develop coaches too.

” I think it is vital that the players are getting development. Being able to retain coaches and work with them and give them the training to get them to the next level for these kids is so important. This is why continuity and being able to retain these coaches is so important. “

When it comes to hiring a Head Coach for the new 2nd Bantam AA team, Stojan shared that the club will take their time through the hiring process.
