Local museums hosting International Museum Day on Friday

May 17, 2018 | 12:00 PM

Three local museums are partnering together for International Museum Day on Friday.

Manager of Marketing and Communications of the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum Brandon Low says attendees will have a heightened experience as the Museum has many partners for the event this time around.

“We were able to partner with the City of Grande Prairie to make our institution open for free to the public as well as the two museums in Grande Prairie as well as the Grande Prairie public transit.”

On top of the Dinosaur Museum in Wembley, visitors will be treated to a range of activities at the Grande Prairie Museum and the Heritage Discovery Centre.

“We will have several booths and activities available in the Museum for people to come and participate in. To learn more about fossils and what we do here,” said Low.

Low added all three locations and the City will provide a free shuttle bus service to go from one place to the other.

“Our dino-bus will be one of the buses taking people around. The City of Grande Prairie is also providing one of their buses that will do the same route but will be staggered so you will be able to hit all three museums.”

Admission is free for the event which takes place on Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
