An Olympian to be guest speaker at this years Nourish the North

Jul 9, 2018 | 6:56 AM

The Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta has announced the guest speaker for this year’s Nourish the North event.

CEO Tracey Vavrek says Justin Kripps will share some of the adversity and challenges that he faced on the road to his goal of being an Olympic bobsledder for Canada.

“At the original onset of his career he was focused on a different direction and Justin will talk about that, he made a switch and a change. We are very honoured that we can bring Justin to Grande Prairie to share that story because it helps each us understand some of the challenges that people experience.”

Kripps piloted one of Canada’s bobsled entries to a gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

“When we were looking at opportunities for 2018 Nourish the North we were looking at someone who could help understand and deliver a message around what it means to work towards a goal and when we are working towards goals we know that at times we can have adversity, we can have challenges and Justin’s had both of those and he’s also had tremendous success.”

The annual wine and auction fundraiser will take place on September 27th at Revolution Place.
