The RCMP’s historical homicide unit has launched a ground and water search north of Hinton, Alberta in the case of a 70-year-old fire spotter who disappeared more than a decade ago.

Stephanie Stewart was reported missing on August 26th, 2006 from the Athabasca fire tower, about 25-kilometres northwest of Hinton.

Investigators concluded that Stewart was killed by someone, but no one has ever been arrested.

Mounties say their latest search will continue until tomorrow and will include the area around the tower where the senior worked, but they have not given a reason for the resumption.
