Grande Prairie Storm open regular season in Fort McMurray

Sep 14, 2018 | 8:39 AM

The Grande Prairie Storm will open up the 2018-19 season on the road Friday night as the club travels to Fort McMurray.

The Storm are coming off of a 2-3 pre-season record which saw them win their last contest seven days ago against the Whitecourt Wolverines at home.

Fort McMurray had a similar pre-season going 2-3, and are coming off a pair of wins last weekend against Lloydminster.

Last season, Grande Prairie saw a lot of success, as the Storm had home ice in a playoff series for the first time in five years, and also won a playoff series.

As a result, expectations are high according to Vice President Chris Millsap.

“Certainly getting into the top four is a given, we absolutely expect to be there. We don’t expect it to be easy because of the competition.  But that’s our expectation this year, we’ll be in the top four and go much deeper into the playoffs.”

Puck drop for tonight’s game is at 7:30 p.m. from the Casman Centre in Fort McMurray.

The two clubs will do battle again Saturday in Fort McMurray.
