Whispering Ridge Community School grand opening took place on Friday

The grand opening of the Whispering Ridge Community School took place Friday morning.

Peace Wapiti Public School Division Board Chair Dana McIntosh says she is taken aback by what the state-of-the-art facility has to offer.

“I (like) the design, windows, the usable spaces for students. There are lots of spaces that don’t look like your traditional classroom, but they are good learning spaces.”

She adds the faculty is going to serve the community for many years to come.

Principal Shawn O’Shea could barely contain his joy for the new school.

“Very excited. It’s been a tremendous privilege and honour (to cut the ribbon). So, the students, the community, myself, and the staff are all very thrilled.”

The school has roughly 460 Kindergarten to Grade 8 students who transferred from Harry Balfour School for the first day of classes on September 4th.

Members of the community, students, teachers, the local and provincial government were on site for the ribbon cutting.
