AUMA Conference a good place to talk issues says O’Toole

Oct 2, 2018 | 1:24 PM

Representatives from communities all over Alberta were able to spend the week networking last week in Red Deer during the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association Conference.

Grande Prairie city councillor Kevin O’Toole says it is also a chance to talk with ministers.

“It’s a very important thing. We do go to the FCM (Federation of Canadian Municipalities) Convention. That’s all of Canada has concerns, but this is our only real chance to meet the ministers and discuss a number of things. Here’s our opportunity to lobby the government.”

He thinks all communities should attend the event.

“There are over 300 municipalities in our province. You want to network with them, understand what their issues are, have them understand what our issues are and maybe we can talk about it.”

All of the city councillors from Grande Prairie were able to attend.
