NWJHL teams ready for an exciting weekend at league showcase

Nov 8, 2018 | 8:05 AM

The North West Junior Hockey League is on the eve of their first ever league showcase, and the teams participating in the event are excited to show off their skills in front of fans and scouts.

Head Coach of the Sundown Oilfield Services Sexsmith Vipers Rob Lavalley shared that he thinks this is a great event for everyone involved.

“It’s pretty special. It’s a little different for our league especially. It’s going to be nice to have everyone in one spot, so people can come and watch some good quality hockey.”

JDA County Kings Head Coach Kyle Chapple explains he is thrilled that his club gets to host the inaugural event.

“It’s an awesome opportunity for us. It’s something we looked at in the fall and partnered with the league and decided we wanted to go ahead with this event. To be having it in Grande Prairie in the first year that we are doing this, it’s a great oppotunity.”

Chapple adds that this is something everyone involved should be excited for and expects a great three days of hockey.

And when it comes to exposure for the league, Lavalley feels this event will help immensely.

“It’s a good way for our guys to show their talents and the attributes they have to move forward when it comes to playing for different schools. It is a good league and there are some really good teams out there. So it would be a good time for everyone to come out and watch some good quality hockey from the both BC side and the Alberta side.”
