Vipers losing skid hits 9 following loss in Dawson Creek

The Sundown Oilfield Services Sexsmith Vipers losing skid has been pushed to 9 games following a 5-3 setback in Dawson Creek against the Jr.Canucks Wednesday night.

The Jr.Canucks would get up early in the opening frame with a pair of goals in the span of two and a half minutes.

Liam Craig opened the scoring on the man advantage and Andrew Davise added to the lead at midway point of the stanza.

The Vipers power play would get them back to within one just a few minutes later as Quinten Shofner found the back of the net for his first of the season.

Dawson Creek would restore their two-goal lead in the middle frame thanks to Dex Elders 6:15 into the period. The goal was the Vernon B.C products 4th of the campaign.

Brandon Rowley made it 4-1 on the power play with 3:12 remaining in the period, but the Vipers would respond just 7 seconds later thanks to Jordan Lucas.

With under two minutes to go in the 2nd the Vipers were on the man advantage, but it would be Rowley scoring his 2nd goal of the game shorthand which vaulted Dawson Creek to a 5-2 lead.

Jordan Lucas would score for Sexsmith in the 3rd, but it was as close as they would come as the Jr.Canucks held on for a 5-3 win.

With the loss, the Vipers losing streak has hit 9 games, and the club’s record has fallen to 7-11-2 on the year.

While Dawson Creek’s win moves them to 15-9-0 and back into first place in the NWJHL.

Both of these clubs will be back on the ice Friday.

Dawson Creek hosts the JDA Kings and the Vipers are on the road in Fairview for a meeting with the Flyers.
