New name for main building at Evergreen Park

Dec 14, 2018 | 2:13 PM

A new naming rights holder has been found for the main building at Evergreen Park.

Tara Energy Services has signed a five-year agreement with Evergreen. The building will be called the Tara Centre as of January 1. It used to be called the ENTREC Centre. ENTREC is now operating in Grande Prairie as Capstan Hauling.

Co-owner Scott Bissell says his company wants to be involved in the community.

“We have an obligation for us working in the oil and gas sector. We started our organization here in Grande Prairie before we moved it across to the border to the US as well. This community is very special to us and it means a lot. The Evergreen family is a not for profit and that follows our culture. We have to give back to the community we live in and operate in. We figure this is a great way to do so.”

He adds during tough times, it is nice to see positive news like this coming from the energy sector.

“This is. We have to get through the challenging times and no matter what economic thing, we still have an obligation to our communities. This is a big thing on the (budget) but it also makes sense and it needs to be done. When everybody else is not doing it, this is a great time for us to step up and do it.”

Evergreen Park General Manager Dan Gorman calls this wonderful news.

“We’re just thrilled to be partnered up with Tara. Scott Bissell and his team (have) very, very similar (beliefs ) to our philosophy and mission statement about putting guests first and clients first. We’ve had a number of different discussions with them over the last two months and came to realize we’re very, very similar (and) have mirror philosophies in a lot of issues.”

Earlier this year, JDA Ventures Limited agreed to be a naming sponsor for the race track. Gorman says a sponsorship of a ballroom and a couple smaller sponsorships have also been added.
