Driving examiners starting job action today

Booking a driving test in Alberta today could pose a problem.

Driving examiners were expected to start job action over the provincial government’s decision last fall to make them public employees, effective in March.

The Certified Driver Examiner’s Association says it’s been in talks with the province on compensation for their businesses, but the negotiations have not gone well.

The association hopes 80 per cent of examiners participate in job action, but Alberta Transportation Minister Brian Mason says the impact of a work stoppage would be minimal
