Fort St. John RCMP investigating after a truck was run off road

Jan 17, 2019 | 3:10 PM

Fort St. John RCMP say they are looking for the driver of a semi they think ran another driver off the road.

Police say on January 11, someone in burgundy Dodge 3500 was following the semi and a black Dodge 1500 from Fort St. John to Taylor on Highway 97 just after 4 p.m.

Mounties say the first truck moved into the slow lane just after crossing the Taylor Bridge while the other two stayed in the fast lane.

Not long after that, the semi cut into the slow lane, forcing the Dodge 3500 to swerve into the path of a lamp located at a roadside turnoff.

The pickup managed to miss the lamp but hit the ditch. The driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There was a lot of damage to their truck as well.

The semi did not stop. A witness thinks that driver may have been on his cell phone at the time this happened.
