NPHL weekend recap

Jan 21, 2019 | 6:38 AM

It’s crunch time in the North Peace Hockey League as there are just 2 weeks remaining in the regular this weekend.

All 7 teams are currently jockeying for playoff positioning this month.

Friday in the lone game on the ice, Manning earned a 5-1 win over the Falher Pirates.

On Saturday, 6 of the 7 teams in the league were in action.

Two division leaders collided in Falher as the Canucks edged the Pirates 7-4.

Elsewhere, Fort St.John edged Grimshaw 5-3 and Manning crushed High Prairie 10-2.

Following the weekend, two teams are locked into their position in the league standings.

The Fort St.John Flyers will finish 3rd in the West division and the High Prairie Regals will end up 4th in the East.

Dawson Creek has a 3-point lead on the Grande Prairie Athletics with a crucial final meeting between the two teams this Thursday in Dawson Creek.

In the East, Falher is close to locking up first in the division despite losing both games this weekend.

League play resumes Tuesday when Fort St.John visits Grimshaw.
