Memorial service announced for Grande Prairie man involved in train derailment

Details of a memorial service for Daniel Waldenberger-Bulmer, the Grande Prairie man identified as one of the victims in the fatal train derailment near Field, B.C. have been released. 

The service has been scheduled for Saturday, February 16.

As listed on the Bear Creek Funeral Home website, the memorial service will take place at People’s Church (11850 108 St.) in Grande Prairie on Saturday at 1 p.m. Following the service, a celebration of Daniel’s life will take place at Wembley Community Hall (9915 100 St.) at 5 p.m.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

Waldenberger-Bulmer was born in Grande Prairie but spent his first years in Wembley. In 2010, he graduated from the Grande Prairie Composite High School.

Following high school, the honour student went on to pursue a career in construction and later found work in the oilfield. He briefly lived in Victoria, B.C. before returning to Alberta to work for CP Rail.

Born October 4, 1992, Waldenberger-Bulmer, is described in his obituary as a “happy-go-lucky guy who always had a smile on his face”.

“…He loved the outdoors and travelling. He had an adventurous spirit and could often be found jumping off high places. He loved to snowboard and was an avid golfer. He made a positive impression on everyone he met. He was kind, generous, and had a big heart with enough love for everyone…”

Waldenberger-Bulmer leaves behind his parents Cari and Albe Bulmer, along with brother Jeremy Waldenberger and many more family and friends.

A relief fund in support of all three families affected by the tragedy has been set up for donations.
