Huskies knock off Kings to close NWJHL regular season

Feb 17, 2019 | 4:40 PM

The 2018-2019 NWJHL regular season came to a close Sunday afternoon in Fort St. John as the Huskies hosted the JDA Kings.

The game was a meaningless one standings wise as the Huskies locked up 1st place Friday and the Kings wrapped up the 3rd seed with a 4-0 win over the North Peace Navigators also on Friday night.

When all was said and done, the Huskies earned a 5-1 win in front of their home fans.

Fort St. John will now have some time off as they earned a bye straight to the league Semi-Finals thanks to their first place finish.

The Kings, on the other hand, will kick off the 2019 NWJHL post-season Tuesday night when they host the Sundown Oilfield Services Sexsmith Vipers in Game 1 of their 1st round best of five series.

The other 1st round series will feature the North Peace Navigators taking on the Fairview Flyers.

That series will begin Wednesday in Peace River.
